Well, it was yet another successful weekend for the Team Active Racing crew as we had several racers participate in the Fort Custer Time Trial event on Sunday. Daryn raced in the Elite category and placed 8th - great job Daryn. Josh raced in the Sport 19-29 class and was one of 15 riders in his category. While his race started off rather "bumpy" (going over the handlebars and eating some dirt on the mogul section), he was able to recover and take 2nd for the day. The event was Tailwind's MTB Time Trial Championship and with overall finishes of 1st, 1st, 7th and today's 2nd he became the Series Champion! With two more series championships remaining (for other race promoters), Josh is looking forward to upcoming races and is headed to Maybury and Pontiac Lake in the weeks ahead.

Our very own "Lieutenant Legs", Angie, also was out for the day on her new Scalpel and with the assistance of Shonger through some expert coaching on technical sections, she was able to take first in women Sport 25 - 39. Below is a recap from Angie herself:
Team Active did AWESOME yesterday!!
On Saturday, Mike Shong and I rode the course (probably a bad idea because I hadn't ridden for almost a week and a half) and I desperately needed to get used to my new Scalpel, since it was the first time I had it on the trails. He's a great teacher and showed me how to get up that rock 'wall' on the course and gave plenty of great tips on improving my mtn biking skills. Of course, not being used to the bike, I found I couldn't make it up several of the large climbs (I tried more than once to Mike's humor) and had to walk a few times and did donate a bit of blood to the trails.
Race day was beautiful but I got started and was quickly passed by Mike (started 30 sec behind me) and realized that this was not going to be a good ride. I was just dying, legs were sore, breathing hard and I had to slow down to almost a walk at one point. And I finally got passed by a woman, Jody, and just watched her ride off. And I still couldn't make it up the large climbs, darn it. Well, all of a sudden I see Jody in front of me again, but thought, eh, she's got me beat, I am just going to ride behind her. Then she was going really slow and I passed her (really slow) and just struggled on.
A huge thanks to everyone who cheered near the end. And thanks to Jim for riding next to me for the last, torturous part on the grass uphill - I didn't have much left. :-) What fun! And then when I went to check the results I looked at the board and well crap, I won! Sport Women 25-39.
Looks like it's Expert next.....
Congratulations to everyone for an awesome weekend!!!
Great job to all the Team Active Racers for another successful day on the trails. I also would like to congratulate Mike Groat for placing 2nd in the team 12-Hours of Pando race on Saturday. He was on a team of four racers competing in the "vets" category (35 and over) and had also intended on doing the FC Time Trial, but something about getting home at 3 am on Sunday left him sleep deprived and not interested in racing in another few hours.
Good riding by all,
Cap'n Cook
